Semi-traction batteries deliver a lower average current than starter batteries, but can be discharged more deeply, up to 50%. They are designed for prolonged current delivery (cyclic use). They can be discharged more deeply and are therefore more suitable for onboard use. They have thick plates and are therefore less suitable for high starting currents. However, this is not a problem with starter motors that are not too heavy.

Accessories consume a lot of energy, such as a parking heater, onboard lighting, refrigerator and coffee machine, placing high demands on the battery. Add standby consumers such as the onboard computer and anti-theft system. In this case, not only starting capacity is important; the battery's cyclic properties also play a role, including its resistance to deeper discharges.
