Mounting solar panels

Place the solar panel with the mounting brackets in the desired location.

Mark the locations of the mounting brackets on the roof.

Remove the panel and supports.

Roughen the marked areas on the roof with steel wool.

Degrease the roughened areas on the roof.

Coat the roughened and degreased areas on the roof with window primer. And let it dry.

Roughen and degrease the underside of the mounting brackets with steel wool.

Mount the mounting brackets with sealant on the roof and place the solar panel in the mounting brackets and weight the solar panel to press the sealant firmly. Use the packaging to protect the panel. Let the sealant dry.

Sealant dry: remove the solar panel from the mounting brackets and seal the mounting brackets all around to prevent dirt from getting underneath.

Place the solar panel and screw it to the mounting brackets.

If you are installing multiple solar panels, connect the plugs so that you are eventually left with a plus and a minus wire to connect to the cables.

Place the plugs on the cable. Strip one and a half to two inches off the cable and pinch the metal plug part to this. Push the metal part into the plug until you feel it click. Common mistake.... if the metal part is not far enough into the plastic housing, the plug will not make good contact and the system will not work!

Connect the attached plugs to the solar panel, note the plus and minus.

Feed the cables in through the roof gutter, seal everything well to prevent leakage.

Feed the cables inside to the charge controller.

First connect the battery to the charge controller so that the charge controller knows whether it is a 12 or 24 volt system. When connecting, the display or control lights will light up.

Connect the solar panel to the charge controller and set the battery type if possible.

On the roof, you may want to run cables through a cable tray that you can mount with the same kit. Or if it is a small piece of cable or plug connection you can use a dot kit. Be careful a loose cable may rattle in driving wind.
